strung together …

a site specific installation.

String games have been around for generations in some form or another throughout cultures world-wide. They are passed down from person to person as oral stories. Played as children, the movements become muscle memory that can be remembered without much effort long into adulthood. Photos, in a similar manner, jog our memories, transport us to other times, and allow us to recall things we wouldn’t otherwise have remembered. Generation after generation, family after family, we all have the same snapshots tucked away in old shoeboxes, photo albums, or on camera rolls. These poses and photographic life markers, much like string games, help form a collective memory.
